Throughout whatever I've done in my life, I have strongly believed in the growth mindset. I have curated a Pinterest board on this, and would say that forms the basis of my educational ideas. You can visit the board by clicking here.
I really like the following quote by Paulo Freire as it especially relates to my background in facilitating dialogue, "Liberating education consists in acts of cognition, not transferals of information … Problem-posing education, breaking the vertical patterns characteristic of banking education, can fulfill its function of being the practice of freedom … Through dialogue, the teacher-of-the-students and the students of the teacher cease to exist … The teacher is no longer merely the-one-who-teaches, but one who is him [or her]self taught in dialogue with the students, who in their turn while being taught also teach. They become jointly responsible for a process in which all grow …" (Source) I wish to maintain class-wide, student-to-student and student-to-teacher dialogue as a cornerstone of my teaching practice.

I'm also deeply interested in educational pedagogy of traditional communities and from an Islamic worldview. I'm interested in the former because I believe we did not evolve as children contained within a classroom for 6 - 8 hours a day. Thus, I wonder how traditional, and especially indigenous, communities convey information, skills, and other learning without the structure of a day-school. In response to the latter interest, a (now defunct) certificate program was introduced a few years ago, you can visit its Facebook page here. If time permits, I hope to play a role in revitalizing the ITEP program.
